Taipei  “The entire supply chain is being rewritten” by artificial intelligence and electrification, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) Chairperson James Huang said on Tuesday, as the 360° MOBILITY Mega Shows opened with Taiwan positioning itself as a trusted global partner to lead this industrial revolution.

Speaking at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Centre, Huang highlighted Taiwan’s transition from traditional manufacturing to a hub for mobility innovation. “At a time when industries are rethinking supply chains and accelerating change, these strengths matter more than ever,” Huang said. “Taiwan contributes with capability, flexibility, reliability, and trust.”

The exhibition, running until April 17, brings together nearly 900 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions. Trade visitors are admitted via pre-registration, with public visitors also able to attend. By combining Taipei AMPA, E-Mobility Taiwan, and Autotronics Taipei under the theme “Empower Every Move,” the event spans complete vehicles, electrification, components, ICT and semiconductors, and smart cockpits.

“Mobility today is being reshaped by electrification, digital transformation, connectivity, and intelligence,” Huang told attendees, noting that vehicles have become platforms for technology, data, energy management, entertainment, and user experience. “This is a revolution of industry,” he said. “Business models are changing. And that is why mobility is being redefined. And we are the ones defining it.”

Reflecting on the shift from vehicles prioritising affordability to connectivity, Huang added: “I still remember the first car I drove, it was a 1970 Volkswagen Camper. The Beetle. And the first car I owned was a 1980 second-hand Ford Cortina.” He stated that modern expectations demand smarter vehicles that interact with drivers, connect with infrastructure, and support sustainability.

Explaining the show’s theme, Huang noted, “It reminds us that every move forward matters. Every innovation matters. Every step toward sustainability matters. And every partnership that brings people, industries, and markets together matters.” He highlighted that the show brings business and technology together: “Here, manufacturing meets digital transformation. Here, hardware meets software. Energy meets intelligence. And ideas are turned into real opportunities.”

Following Huang, Jerry Hsu, Vice Chairperson of the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (TEEMA), noted that Huang “just gave us a wonderful speech at TAITRA,” and announced a significant international expansion. Hsu revealed that TEEMA will establish overseas Technology Parks in Mexico, Poland, the USA, and India to support its members’ global manufacturing and electric vehicle ecosystem deployment.

TEEMA represents more than 3,000 members across 17 industry sectors—including semiconductors, telecommunications, home appliances, heavy electricity, heavy electrical equipment, and automotive electronics—employing over 930,000 people globally.

Hsu said the industry is transitioning from the traditional CASE (Connected, Autonomous, Shared, and Electric) framework to an AI-driven era. “Artificial intelligence is moving from cloud into vehicle cabin, from software into chassis,” Hsu said. “Further competition will no longer be just defined by the horsepower, but by the computing power, software capability, data, and governance.”

He added that software-defined vehicles, autonomous driving, automotive semiconductors, 6G communication, and AI regulations are reshaping the landscape. Recalling a recent trip to Austin and San Francisco, Hsu said it was “amazing how they can interact with the real environment” regarding autonomous taxis, adding: “And very soon, I think autonomous driving will come to life.”

Highlighting Taiwan’s comprehensive ecosystem, Hsu pointed to the region’s strength in advanced chip manufacturing, communication modules, sensors, power management, thermal solutions, PCBs, and complete vehicle platforms with smart cockpit systems.

The exhibition features the AI CAR Pavilion and Hydrogen Applications Pavilion as main focal points. Notable exhibits include a Taiwan-developed hydrogen bus certified to EU and UN standards—presented at scale in Taiwan for the first time—and an electric three-wheeler from the Taiwan-Japan joint venture, Lean Mobility.

Major exhibitors include Foxconn, China Motor Corporation, Škoda, Fortune Electric, TECO, Pegatron, Advantech, E-Lead Electronic, and MiTAC. The automotive and motorcycle parts section features suppliers specialising in vehicle lighting, critical components, and aftermarket maintenance solutions.

TEEMA is presenting three theme pavilions: the AI Car Pavilion, showcasing power systems to autonomous applications; the Taiwan Automobility Research Consortium, highlighting AI power cockpits and the hydrogen bus to demonstrate nationwide R&D; and the Taiwan Electric Vehicle Industry Alliances, focusing on AI edge computing, automotive power systems, thermal management, and light electric vehicles.

Built around Connected Mobility, Future Mobility, and Green Mobility, the event also hosts the ESG Pavilion, the Automotive Components Alliance, and international sections like the U.S. Pavilion and Czech Pavilion. The 360° Mobility Forum and procurement programmes are running concurrently to foster dialogue and connect exhibitors with global buyers.

After thanking exhibitors, media, and partners from Taiwan and abroad, Huang concluded: “The technologies we advance, the solutions we create, and the partnerships we build today will shape how the world moves tomorrow. So, let’s move forward together.”
