President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has issued a raft of domestic directives aimed at improving living conditions. He ordered immediate actions on real estate accountability, electricity billing, market controls, and traffic discipline during a speech on Monday.
Speaking at the Strategic Command headquarters in the New Administrative Capital during a ceremony marking the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, Al-Sisi assured the public of the state’s vigilance regarding national security, affirming that the armed forces are fully prepared to defend the country against external threats. He stressed that his focus extends beyond military readiness to addressing accumulated domestic challenges and improving citizen services.
To increase transparency, the president ordered the government to prepare a comprehensive report detailing actual achievements, expenditures, and results across all state sectors over the past years. This report will be presented to the public during a conference scheduled for October, which will include intellectuals, specialists, and university professors to discuss implemented projects and ongoing challenges over a period of a week to ten days.
Al-Sisi delivered a stern warning regarding the real estate sector, mandating close monitoring of contracts to ensure developers do not delay the delivery of units or the construction of associated infrastructure. He announced a comprehensive review by state agencies to ensure developers fulfil their obligations. “I will be sharp on this matter,” Al-Sisi said. “Anyone who takes money from people is obligated to execute the contract on time, and legal measures will be taken to protect citizens’ rights.”
Addressing utility costs, the president directed the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy to directly supervise billing to prevent arbitrary estimations. He ordered the implementation of measures to facilitate the payment of overdue balances.
On food security, Al-Sisi instructed the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade to continuously control markets and expand government sales outlets, mandating the establishment of at least one government outlet in every district nationwide to provide basic commodities at prices matching citizens’ purchasing power.
Responding to a recent rise in traffic accidents, the president ordered the Minister of Interior to launch continuous traffic campaigns to enforce strict discipline and rapidly process violations. He also directed the Minister of Transport to complete all mass transit projects within their set timeframes and continuously improve road conditions.
Furthermore, Al-Sisi reiterated instructions to the Ministry of Local Development and provincial governors to conduct on-the-ground monitoring, open direct communication channels with citizens, address complaints, and ensure strict accountability for violators.
He concluded by stressing that the rule of law must be enforced decisively, stating that there is “no place among us for the corrupt, nor any favouritism for those who manipulate the people’s rights or tamper with the destiny of this great nation.”
