Coca-Cola plans to open a new factory in Alexandria and more than double the workforce at its Cairo digital hub by 2027, company executives told Egyptian ministers on Wednesday.

The expansion was discussed during a meeting at the World Economic Forum between Egyptian Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib, Coca-Cola HBC CEO Zoran Bogdanovic, and Michael Goltzman, Senior Vice President for Global Policy and Sustainability at Coca-Cola.

The company’s digital centre in Cairo, which currently employs 170 people, is expected to reach 450 employees by 2027. The hub provides services to support the company’s operations across 27 countries, according to a statement from the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.

During the talks, Kouchouk and El-Khatib stated that the Egyptian government is committed to providing a “stable and clear investment environment” with consistent fiscal and trade policies. They described Egypt as a strategic regional hub that allows multinational corporations to expand operations into broader regional and international markets.

The ministers emphasised the government’s focus on industrial localisation and the development of local supply chains, viewing multinational companies as strategic partners in enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian industry.

Goltzman said that Egypt serves as a “pivotal centre” for the company’s regional operations, citing its advanced industrial infrastructure, strong logistical capabilities, and qualified human resources. He affirmed Coca-Cola’s commitment to long-term partnership and sustainable industrial expansion in the Egyptian market.

In addition to the planned Alexandria facility, the company recently inaugurated a new production line at an existing factory. The discussions also covered cooperation in sustainable manufacturing and green growth as part of Egypt’sbroader economic development goals.
