Egypt has successfully opened new agricultural export markets in Peru, Panama and Mexico for oranges, grapes and strawberry seedlings, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk announced. The move comes in line with directives from the country’s political leadership to boost national exports and create new sources of foreign currency.
Farouk said the achievement followed technical negotiations led by the Central Administration of Plant Quarantine (CAPQ) with plant quarantine authorities in the three countries. According to an official report from Ahmed Rizk, Head of the Agricultural Services Sector, Peru has now approved imports of Egyptian oranges, Panama has opened its market to grapes and strawberry seedlings, and Mexico has authorised imports of strawberry seedlings.
The minister noted that CAPQ is currently finalising executive procedures to begin shipments. Egypt has received the official technical requirements from the importing countries and is preparing circulars to communicate them to exporters, ensuring full compliance with regulations.
These developments reflect the continued momentum in expanding Egypt’s agricultural exports into global markets, driven by high quality standards and adherence to international phytosanitary requirements.
