Hossam Heiba, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), has called on German companies to localise textile machinery technology in Egypt, leveraging the country’s increasingly attractive investment climate. Years of structural reforms and a comprehensive package of incentives—including the streamlined “golden licence,” tax and non-tax benefits, and tailored investment systems—have positioned Egypt as a competitive destination for industrial investment.

Speaking at the Textile Machinery Technology Conference, organised by the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Heiba underlined Egypt’s potential as a leading regional export hub, offering access to over 1.5 billion consumers through an extensive network of trade agreements with Africa, Europe, the United States, and other key markets.

Heiba highlighted Egypt’s strong economic fundamentals, citing a skilled labour force and advanced infrastructure capable of supporting rapid business expansion. He emphasised the strategic importance of the textile sector to Egypt’s economy and the government’s commitment to its modernisation and sustainable development.

The conference brought together 18 leading German companies specialising in advanced textile machinery and technology. Participants included representatives from the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, and the German Engineering Federation (VDMA). The event served as a platform to showcase cutting-edge German innovations in textile machinery.

He stressed the vital role German companies can play in this transformation by providing state-of-the-art machinery and partnering in technological advancement.

Katrin Jennicke, speaking on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, described the conference as a meaningful step toward deepening collaboration between Egypt and Germany in the textile sector. She affirmed Egypt’s strong fundamentals and promising potential for building long-term, mutually beneficial industrial partnerships.
