Extra trains scheduled over Eid

Egyptian Railways has announced that it will begin accepting ticket reservations for Eid Al-Fitr on air conditioned trains on 5-10 August, for all trips.

Due to the large number of passengers who will be travelling during the holiday, and in an attempt to combat overcrowding, especially for those going to Upper Egypt, Egyptian Railways will operate 60 air conditioned trains from Cairo to Aswan.

The railway stated that 24 special trains have been reserved to serve passengers travelling during Eid, with two leaving and two arriving per day.

Eleven additional vehicles will be added to the train schedule, which will begin launching trips from the Cairo train station at 7pm, carrying an additional 660 seats per day. The train schedule will operate as follows:

Trains 988/887 going from Cairo to Aswan and back
Train 976 going from Cairo to Luxor and back
Train 935 going from Luxor to Alexandria and back
Train 906 going from Alexandria to Cairo and back
Trains 886 and 1903 going from Cairo to Aswan and back
Trains 996/997 going from Cairo to Aswan and back
Trains 1902/989 going from Cairo to Aswan and back

Tickets for all trains can be booked on the same day of travel.
