Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty travelled to Algeria on Sunday to participate in a ministerial meeting of the tripartite neighbourhood mechanism on Libya alongside his Algerian and Tunisian counterparts.

During the meeting, the three foreign ministers will examine the latest political and security developments in Libya and exchange assessments on ways to revive the political settlement process under the auspices of the United Nations.

The gathering is part of ongoing efforts by the three countries to strengthen coordination and consultation in support of an inclusive political solution to the Libyan crisis, agreed upon by Libyans themselves.

The proposed solution is expected to be based on dialogue among the various Libyan parties and lead to free and transparent legislative and presidential elections. These elections aim to pave the way for unified and strong institutions capable of meeting the aspirations of the Libyan people for security and stability.

On the sidelines of his participation in the meeting, Abdelatty is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with several high-level Algerian officials.
