The trade exchange between Egypt and the countries of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) reached $1.1bn during the first seven months of 2026, compared to $1bn during the same period in 2025, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
In a statement issued on Saturday on the occasion of the El Alamein Africa Forum, hosted by New Alamein City, CAPMAS said Egyptian exports to NEPAD countries reached $891m during the first seven months of 2026, compared to $901m during the same period a year earlier. Meanwhile, Egyptian imports from these countries rose to $167m, compared to $114m.
The NEPAD countries covered by the data are Algeria, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa, alongside Egypt.
Algeria topped the list of the largest importers of Egyptian goods, with Egyptian exports to the country reaching $566m, followed by Nigeria at $140.5m, South Africa at $138m, and Senegal at $46.5m.
The main commodity groups exported to these countries included electrical machinery and equipment worth $101m, plastics and articles thereof worth $83m, miscellaneous food preparations worth $69m, animal and vegetable fats and oils worth $67m, and copper and articles thereof worth $62m.
South Africa topped the list of the largest exporters to Egypt, with Egyptian imports from the country reaching $81m, followed by Senegal at $58m, Algeria at $16m, and Nigeria at $12m.
The main commodity groups imported from these countries included mineral fuels, oils, and products of their distillation worth $58m; vehicles, tractors, and bicycles worth $39m; machinery and mechanical appliances worth $12.5m; copper and articles thereof worth $11.6m; and oilseeds, oleaginous fruits, and medicinal plants worth $8m.
In a related development, CAPMAS data showed that investments by NEPAD countries in Egypt reached $190.7m during FY 2024/2025, compared to $39m during FY 2023/2024.
Meanwhile, Egyptian investments in NEPAD countries rose to $251m during FY 2024/2025, compared to $143.3m a year earlier.
CAPMAS also noted that remittances from Egyptians working in NEPAD countries reached $27m during FY 2024/2025, up from $20.4m during FY 2023/2024.
Remittances from workers from NEPAD countries in Egypt stood at $10.8m during FY 2024/2025, compared to $9.9m a year earlier.
