Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, met with Admassu Tadesse, President of the Trade and Development Bank Group (TDB), on the sidelines of the Alamein Africa Forum to discuss opportunities to strengthen cooperation in trade and investment finance.
The meeting was attended by the heads of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), the Commercial Representation, the Export Development Authority, and the Sovereign Fund of Egypt.
The discussions explored opportunities to benefit from TDB’s financing tools to support Egyptian companies operating across various sectors, as well as exporting companies seeking to expand into African markets. The two sides also discussed potential financing mechanisms to support non-banking financial companies.
The meeting further addressed the importance of strengthening communication between TDB and the Egyptian business community through coordination with export councils and relevant authorities. This would help identify the financing needs of Egyptian companies and projects seeking to expand into African markets.
Both sides stressed the importance of continuing dialogue and coordination to identify priority areas of cooperation, support greater engagement by Egyptian companies in African markets, and strengthen trade and investment relations between Egypt and countries across the continent.
