Full support for Saudi Arabia’s security and a categorical rejection of any attacks on its territory were affirmed during a phone call between the Egyptian and Saudi foreign ministers on Tuesday, the foreign ministry in Cairo said.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud discussed regional developments, including the situations in Yemen and Iran, as well as the Red Sea, according to ministry spokesperson Ambassador Nader Zaki.
During the talks, Abdelatty confirmed Cairo’s full solidarity and support for all measures taken by Saudi Arabia to preserve its sovereignty and security. The two ministers also agreed on the necessity of maintaining freedom of maritime navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab-el-Mandeb strait.
The call took place within the framework of ongoing consultation and coordination between the two nations regarding issues of mutual interest. The ministers reviewed strategic bilateral relations and affirmed their mutual keenness to continue advancing joint cooperation mechanisms across various fields.
