The Permanent Committee for Egyptian-African Relations met on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Hamdi Sanad Loza, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for African Affairs.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from relevant ministries and the Egyptian Exporters Association. The committee discussed the development of trade exchange and the presence of Egyptian companies in African countries, based on the reports from the Egyptian embassies in those countries.

The committee also reviewed the preparations for Egypt to host the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) on 9-15 November 2023. The IATF is organized by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in collaboration with the African Union (AU) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat.

The committee highlighted the success of exporting Egyptian medicines to some African countries and explored ways to increase and diversify them in the next phase. The committee also examined the trade practices of some countries that use barter deals or local currencies to finance their trade exchanges.

The meeting was part of the regular coordination meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enhance and develop cooperation with African countries.
