Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi is set to meet the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday to discuss efforts to advance the Palestinian reconciliation, according to the Jerusalem Post.

The meeting will also discuss the reviving the peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis, in the sidelines of Abbas’s participation in the World Youth Forum in Sharm El-Sheikh

Last month, Egypt brokered a deal between Hamas and Fatah. The two main Palestinian movements have signed an agreement at the Egyptian General Intelligence Service headquarters in Cairo and agreed to proceed with further meetings between factions to plan presidential and legislative elections.

According to the agreement, Hamas allows the reconciliation government to carry out its duties in the 360 km square strip.

Later in September, Hamas announced dissolving its administrative committee in Gaza strip, in order to end the escalation with Fatah which the President of Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas belongs to.

Hamas has stressed that it would not concede the weapon of the resistance. Abbas expressed his rejection for this.

Egypt is planning to host senior Palestinian officials to discuss the remaining obstacles to reconciliation, including Hamas’s control of weapons late in November, according to the Jerusalem Post.
