Al-Ahly SC claimed third place in Abu Dhabi Basketball Championship that took place from 28 November to 3 December. The championship, which was held for the first time, was won by Moroccan side AS Salé.
Al-Ahly came in second place in Group B after the team defeated Jordanian side Al-Reyady Aramex 81-69 and Bahraini side Al-Meharraq 67-54.
However, Al-Ahly lost to eventual champions AS Salé in third group stage match 72-58.
In the quarterfinal, Al-Ahly defeated Al-Nasr team from Libya 75-68.
The Egyptian side lost the semifinal game against Club Africain from Tunisia 66-54.
Al-Ahly played a third place decider against Al-Jazeera team from UAE and won with difficulty 76-75.
The team is coached by former basketball player Sayed Mostafa.
