E20 Investment, a UAE-based investment group, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with EDAFA Venture, a regional venture capital company, to explore cooperation and investment opportunities in agriculture, aquaculture, food security, and related technologies, while supporting startups developing innovative solutions for these sectors.
The MoU brings together E20 Investment’s expertise across various stages of the agribusiness value chain and EDAFA Venture’s experience in investing in and supporting promising early-stage startups.
The partnership is expected to facilitate efforts to translate innovations and emerging technologies into practical and scalable solutions.
Under the MoU, the two companies will explore cooperation opportunities with startups developing technologies and business models aimed at addressing challenges in the agriculture and food sectors.
E20 Investment said potential areas of cooperation include agritech, water and irrigation, sustainable agriculture, precision farming, post-harvest solutions and cold-chain systems, livestock, poultry and dairy, aquaculture, and infrastructure related to food security.
The group added that areas of interest also extend to innovations involving seeds and agricultural inputs, supply-chain and distribution technologies, and integrated agricultural and industrial solutions.
E20 Investment has expertise across various stages of the agribusiness cycle, including farm design and construction, agricultural production, processing, and distribution. EDAFA Venture, meanwhile, focuses on investing in early-stage startups and supporting high-growth companies through financing and strategic assistance.
Essam Aly, CEO of EDAFA Venture, invited startups from around the world operating in agritech, water and irrigation management, sustainable agriculture, precision farming, post-harvest and cold-chain solutions, livestock, poultry and dairy, aquaculture, and food-security infrastructure to apply and benefit from the cooperation opportunities offered through the initiative.
“We also welcome innovations in seeds and agricultural inputs, supply chains and distribution, as well as integrated agricultural and industrial solutions that support the development of practical and scalable solutions for the agriculture and food-security sectors,” Aly added.
He noted that the two companies plan to open applications to startups on September 22 to explore the cooperation and investment opportunities arising from the MoU.
The call will target companies developing innovative solutions and technologies in agritech, water and irrigation, sustainable agriculture, precision farming, post-harvest and cold-chain solutions, livestock, poultry and dairy, aquaculture, food security, seeds and agricultural inputs, supply chains and distribution, and integrated agricultural and industrial solutions.
He further pointed out that the MoU reflects both parties’ interest in supporting innovative, technology-based solutions and promoting sustainable growth opportunities in the agriculture and food-security sectors across the region by linking innovation with operational expertise and investment opportunities.
He disclosed that the cooperation between the two sides will help identify promising startups and assess opportunities to support them, helping develop their solutions and turn them into viable projects capable of growing and scaling across regional markets.
