Trade between Romania and Egypt reached $452.97m between March and July 2026, marking an increase of nearly 21% compared with the same period of 2025, according to trade figures released by the Romanian Embassy in Cairo.
The latest data point to a significant rise in Romanian exports to the Egyptian market. Exports from Romania totalled $277.15m during the five-month period, almost double the level recorded in the corresponding period of 2025, according to figures shared by the Embassy.
Egyptian exports to Romania reached $175.82m over the same period, bringing the total value of bilateral trade to nearly $453m.
The figures were highlighted by the Romanian Embassy in Cairo as part of its efforts to promote economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries. In a post published on its official Facebook page, the Embassy said economic diplomacy remains one of its main priorities in Egypt.
The Embassy also noted that Egypt has re-emerged as Romania’s second-largest export market in Africa and the Middle East, according to the latest Romanian statistics. On a broader geographical basis that also includes Asia, Egypt ranks as Romania’s third-largest export destination, the Embassy added.
The sharp increase in Romanian exports was the standout feature of the latest trade figures. With exports reaching $277.15m, they accounted for around 61% of total bilateral trade during the March-July period, while Egyptian exports represented the remaining 39%.
Based on the figures released by the Embassy, Romania recorded a trade surplus with Egypt of approximately $101.33m during the five-month period.
The Romanian Embassy said strengthening trade relations with Egypt remains a priority for both the mission and its Commercial Office, as part of broader efforts to deepen economic ties and encourage greater commercial engagement between the two countries.
According to the Embassy, Ambassador Olivia Toderean has made strengthening Romania-Egypt economic relations a key priority of her mandate.
The latest figures provide a snapshot of bilateral trade during the March-July 2026 period, highlighting growth in overall trade volumes alongside a particularly strong expansion in Romanian exports to Egypt.
The Embassy’s announcement comes as both countries seek to further strengthen their economic partnership. For Romania, the latest figures reinforce Egypt’s position as a key export destination in the region, while for Egypt, they reflect continued growth in trade with an important European partner.
The Embassy said it will continue working to strengthen Romania-Egypt trade relations, with its Commercial Office supporting economic diplomacy and expanding commercial cooperation between the two countries.
