Minister of State for Military Production Salah Gamblat said the Ministry of Military Production is developing a new strategy to modernise its affiliated companies, with a focus on digital transformation, the expanded use of industrial software, artificial intelligence (AI) applications, and the upgrading of manufacturing systems in line with rapid global advances in smart manufacturing.

Gamblat said the strategy will be implemented through stronger cooperation with leading international technology companies, in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to localise advanced technologies, deepen local manufacturing, and maximise the use of the ministry’s industrial, technological, and human capabilities.

His remarks came during a meeting with a delegation from Intel to discuss opportunities for cooperation in digital transformation, industrial software, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing technologies.

The minister said software has become the foundation of modern manufacturing and a key driver of industrial competitiveness, while AI applications are now an integral part of industrial operations, production processes, and supply chains.

He added that the ministry is accelerating the adoption of advanced digital solutions across its affiliated companies by developing digital infrastructure and establishing an integrated smart software ecosystem aimed at improving operational efficiency, increasing productivity, and enhancing manufacturing performance.

Gamblat stressed that investing in human capital remains a central pillar of the ministry’s strategy, noting that the development of technical skills across its affiliated companies is proceeding alongside the modernisation of production systems and the introduction of advanced technologies.

He added that cooperation with strategic technology partners such as Intel supports the transfer and localisation of advanced technologies, enhances the competitiveness of Egyptian industrial products, and generates greater added value for the national economy.

During the meeting, the two sides explored cooperation across several priority areas, including the deployment of embedded AI applications to modernise production lines, the development of integrated industrial software systems, and cooperation in server technologies used in data centres to support digital transformation and artificial intelligence projects.

They also discussed expanding advanced data centre capacity to accommodate the rapid growth of AI applications and digital services, in line with Egypt’s efforts to build an integrated digital infrastructure.

The discussions further covered potential strategic partnerships in Ethernet networking and digital communications technologies, Edge AI solutions, and artificial intelligence applications for drones, smart cameras, and AI Box units.

According to the ministry, these initiatives are intended to support the localisation of advanced technology components, facilitate technology and knowledge transfer, promote the exchange of technical expertise, and contribute to building an advanced digital industrial base capable of meeting future technological requirements.

For their part, Intel representatives outlined their vision for establishing a long-term strategic partnership with the Ministry of Military Production by leveraging the industrial, technological, and human capabilities of the ministry’s affiliated companies while facilitating the transfer of advanced technologies and technical expertise.

They said the ministry’s capabilities provide a strong foundation for joint projects in artificial intelligence, industrial software, digital infrastructure, and technology transfer, creating mutual benefits for both parties.

The Intel delegation also praised the Egyptian government’s commitment to digital transformation and advanced manufacturing, noting that cooperation with the Ministry of Military Production represents an important step towards localising advanced technologies and enhancing the regional and international competitiveness of Egyptian industry.

The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to continue coordination through specialised technical meetings to develop a roadmap for future cooperation aimed at establishing a long-term strategic partnership. The roadmap will seek to maximise the capabilities and expertise of both parties, accelerate technology and knowledge transfer, strengthen national industry, support Egypt’s transition towards a competitive knowledge-based digital economy, and reinforce the country’s position as a regional hub for advanced technology and smart manufacturing industries.
