Ahmed Rostom, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, inspected the Information Infrastructure Centre for the Egyptian Planning System, affiliated with the ministry, accompanied by Mohamed Hindi, Acting Executive Director of the centre, to review workflow and assess the progress of projects and programs led by the centre in the fields of digital transformation and government service development.
The visit is part of the ministry’s efforts to enhance government performance efficiency and build an integrated digital ecosystem.
During the tour, Rostom stressed the importance of continuing to develop and improve digital services in line with the state’s direction toward comprehensive digital transformation and the modernization of administrative systems. He explained that possessing an integrated spatial information infrastructure is one of the key pillars of effective development planning, as it provides accurate data that supports the formulation of plans and strategies, evidence-based decision-making, and the continuous monitoring and evaluation of project implementation rates on the ground.
The Minister of Planning and Economic Development noted that the ministry’s early recognition of the importance of this role prompted it to adopt a national project focused on integrating the spatial information infrastructure of Egypt’s planning system. The initiative seeks to improve the efficiency of development and investment decision-making, support the state’s efforts to strengthen information infrastructure across various sectors, enhance service quality, and accelerate the pace of digital transformation.
Furthermore, Rostom reviewed the operational mechanisms of the digital systems and applications implemented by the centre to support government operations. He was briefed on efforts to provide technical support and develop digital infrastructure, which directly contribute to improving the quality of services delivered to citizens and facilitating access to them.

The minister also held a direct discussion with engineers and employees at the centre, commending their dedicated efforts in implementing digital transformation projects and affirming the ministry’s full support for its technical staff through the provision of a motivating work environment that fosters innovation and continuous performance improvement.
The Information Infrastructure Centre for the Egyptian Planning System is currently supervising and implementing a package of major national projects, including the integration of spatial information infrastructure to develop Egypt’s planning and monitoring system through updated maps, as well as the digital health file project, which focuses on developing health initiative systems and ensuring the sustainability of birth, death, and vaccination data.
Other projects include the development of financial information systems at the National Investment Bank to manage banking operations digitally.
The package also includes judicial governance projects to improve government performance and enhance integration in cooperation with the Administrative Prosecution Authority, developing technological service centres in districts, cities, and new urban communities, and facilitating transactional services by increasing the operational capacity of real estate registration offices, while expanding mobile technology centres and permanent Egypt Services outlets.
