Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation has announced heightened operational readiness across all airports nationwide, following regional developments that have led to the closure of airspace in several neighbouring countries.

Sameh El-Hefny, Minister of Civil Aviation, said he will keep monitoring flight operations around the clock through the central operations room of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority. Coordination is being maintained with the Cairo Air Navigation Center (CANC), the crisis management unit at Cairo International Airport, the Integrated Operations Control Center of EgyptAir, the Integrated Operations Center of the Egyptian Airports Company, and other relevant authorities.

The minister has directed that the highest level of preparedness be implemented at Cairo International Airport and all other Egyptian airports in anticipation of potentially receiving diverted aircraft required to alter their routes and land in Egypt due to current regional conditions.

Continuous monitoring of flight movements is under way, with operational decisions taken as needed to ensure the highest standards of safety and efficiency, while also providing necessary assistance and comfort to passengers affected by any disruptions.

The ministry confirmed that Egyptian airspace remains fully operational and capable of accommodating any potential rerouting of flights, in full compliance with international civil aviation safety and security standards.

It added that intensive and direct coordination is ongoing with civil aviation authorities in the countries concerned to manage developments in accordance with approved procedures, while maintaining the smooth and safe flow of air traffic within Egyptian airspace.

The ministry said it is closely following developments and will issue further official statements as updates become available.

Travellers have been advised to check with their respective airlines to confirm the status of their flights and any possible schedule changes in light of the ongoing regional events.
