The Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) announced that outstanding balances of companies and associations financing medium, small, and micro enterprises (MSMEs) in Egypt reached EGP 84.704bn in July 2025, up from EGP 66.830bn a year earlier—an increase of EGP 17.874bn.
Micro-enterprise financing stood at EGP 63.229bn, compared to EGP 57.296bn in July 2024, with 3.495 million beneficiaries, down from 3.796 million. Financing directed to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) reached EGP 21.475bn, more than doubling from EGP 9.533bn, while the number of beneficiaries rose to 14,800, up from 8,400.
FRA data showed that companies accounted for 64.95% of microfinance balances, while Class A associations and NGOs held 32.7%, Class C 1%, and Class B 1.3%.
Consumer finance companies extended EGP 47.419bn in July 2025, compared to EGP 29.339bn in the same period last year—an increase of EGP 18.08bn. The number of beneficiaries surged to 5.869 million clients, from 2.127 million a year earlier.
Vehicle and car purchases accounted for 17.4% of this financing, followed by electrical appliances and electronics (17.1%), household appliances (16.9%), and consumer goods bought via finance cards (14.2%).
The value of leasing contracts reached EGP 92.136bn in July 2025, compared to EGP 64.286bn in July 2024, up by EGP 27.85bn. The number of contracts rose to 1,255, from 968 a year earlier.
The breakdown showed real estate and land dominating with 75.19% of total contracts, followed by transport vehicles (6.94%), machinery and equipment (5.11%), passenger cars (3.45%), and production lines (2.21%).
Licensed mortgage finance companies provided a total of EGP 23.126bn by end-July 2025, compared to EGP 12.884bn a year earlier, an increase of EGP 10.242bn. The number of contracts rose to 9,157, up from 5,854.
Of this total, 468 contracts were issued to individual clients valued at EGP 5.727bn, while purchased portfolios comprised 8,689 contracts worth EGP 17.399bn.
In terms of income brackets, clients earning above EGP 3,500 per month accounted for EGP 23.077bn across all 9,157 contracts.
