An improvised explosive device exploded near a police station in Fayoum on Wednesday night and injured a policeman, the state-owned Al-Ahram reported.

In an investigative campaign, the Ministry of Interior found 180 cases of illegal possession of weapons, 101 drug possession cases, and found eight stolen cars on Wednesday, state-media also reported on Thursday.

On Tuesday, a policeman was killed while attempting to disarm a bomb near a Giza police station.

Unknown assailants killed two more policemen the same day as they were on duty outside of a church in Egypt’s Minya governorate.

Meanwhile earlier this week, on Sunday, two policemen were injured in a Mohandessin shooting, according to the Ministry of Interior’s press office.

Improvised explosive devices have often been found near police station premises over the past years.
