Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has ordered an acceleration of work on the New Heliopolis Hospital project, which will increase the facility’s capacity from 424 to 495 beds, with a fixed timetable to be prepared for completing its equipment and operational readiness.
The directive came during a meeting with a delegation from Italy’s San Donato Group, GKSD, and Eni to review progress on the project and explore further healthcare cooperation and investment, the Ministry of Health said.
Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the meeting reviewed the hospital’s implementation status, including plans to add 71 beds to its existing capacity.
The minister also called for a clear schedule to complete the hospital’s medical and non-medical furnishing and ordered a review of its information and communications technology systems before operations begin.
The ministry said the measures aim to ensure that the hospital is fully prepared to operate efficiently. However, it did not provide a final opening date or disclose the value of investment in the project.
The meeting also examined potential areas of cooperation with the Italian companies in healthcare investment and project development.
