Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi stressed on Saturday the importance of adhering to defined timelines for the completion of housing and infrastructure projects, while removing obstacles facing investment in the sector, according to a presidential statement.

During a meeting with Housing Minister Randa El-Menshawy and senior officials, the president reviewed the ministry’s plans and progress on projects nationwide.

Discussions covered the expansion of major housing programmes, including the “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative, alongside mid- and upper-middle income housing projects targeting around 220,000 units, and a luxury housing programme comprising approximately 130,000 units.

The meeting also addressed the launch of the first phase of a public-private partnership (PPP) programme to develop affordable housing, which includes 17,000 units across eight new cities.

President Al-Sisi reviewed progress on the Decent Life initiative, directing that the first phase be completed within the current year and prioritising wastewater treatment facilities in the second phase.

The discussions further covered a range of development and tourism projects, including Fustat Park, developments along the North Coast and Red Sea, and upgrades in the Marina area, including Marina 8 and related coastal infrastructure.

Updates were also presented on New Alamein City, including beachfront towers, the Latin District, and plans for an international conference and exhibition centre aimed at positioning the city as a regional hub for economic, cultural, and tourism events. The minister also outlined proposals to operate facilities in the heritage city and establish a cultural centre within a cinema complex.

The meeting reviewed a rental housing programme comprising 10,000 units in its first phase, alongside efforts to address longstanding issues related to old rent laws and promote new rental and rent-to-own models.

Progress on the Great Transfiguration project in Saint Catherine was also discussed.

President Al-Sisi emphasised the need for close monitoring of project implementation through increased field visits to ensure high-quality execution and the development of integrated urban communities that meet citizens’ needs.
