Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Saturday reviewed progress on the construction of the new passenger terminal “Terminal 4” at Cairo International Airport — one of Egypt’s flagship infrastructure projects aimed at upgrading aviation services and expanding airport capacity, the presidency said in a statement.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh Hafny, Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, and Presidential Financial Advisor Lieutenant General Ahmed El-Shazly.

According to the statement, the new terminal will have an annual capacity of no less than 30 million passengers, raising Cairo International Airport’s total capacity to over 60 million passengers. The facility will adopt advanced smart technologies and digital operation systems to provide what officials described as an “exceptional and fully integrated travel experience.”

Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed El-Shennawy said President Al-Sisi stressed the importance of adopting state-of-the-art systems for air navigation, ground operations, and facility management, while incorporating innovative research-based technologies to build an intelligent and sustainable airport environment that meets international standards.

The president was also briefed on ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of Egypt’s civil aviation sector and upgrade airport infrastructure nationwide. The Ministry of Civil Aviation aims to increase total passenger capacity across Egyptian airports to 72.2 million by the end of 2025, while improving service quality as part of the government’s goal to attract 30 million tourists annually.

Al-Sisi instructed the government to expand strategic partnerships to attract more foreign direct investment in the aviation sector, including through the establishment of integrated investment zones around airports. He also directed strict adherence to environmental standards in line with Egypt’s green economy transition and plans for a sustainable aviation system.

The president further called for prompt and effective responses to passenger feedback and complaints to enhance the overall travel experience and strengthen confidence in Egypt’s airport services.
