Cairo hosts first meeting of Egyptian-Qatari Joint Military Committee

Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Osama Askar has met Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Salem bin Hamad al-Aqeel al-Nabit in Cairo to discuss topics of common interest.

An official reception ceremony was held for the Qatari delegation at the Ministry of Defence.

The meeting dealt with a number of issues of common concern in light of the military cooperation between the armed forces of both brotherly countries in many fields.

The two chiefs of staff also presided over the closing session of the first meeting of the Egyptian-Qatari Joint Military Committee, and signed the minutes of the committee in the presence of a number of commanders of the armed forces of both countries.

Askar stressed the increase in the horizons of military cooperation and the exchange of experiences between the two sides, pointing to the consensus of visions on joint plans for the benefit of the armed forces of the two brotherly countries.

For his part, Al-Nabit stressed the importance of increasing cooperation in the military and training fields during the next stage to achieve the interests of the armed forces of both countries.

In a related context, Askar accompanied by Lieutenant General S al-Nabit, Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces, inspected a number of industrial units and edifices of the Armed Forces, including production lines in the Engineering Industries Complex at the Vehicles Department, and also visited the headquarters of the Air College.

He inspected the preparation and rehabilitation system within the college, including advanced laboratories, simulator systems, and a ground exhibition of aircraft of various models.

The Chiefs of Staff also conducted an inspection tour led by the Navy, which included a visit to the naval special units, and witnessed a number of training activities for naval combat and physical fitness, followed by a visit to the Alexandria Arsenal Company, during which they listened to a presentation on the company’s capabilities and its pioneering expertise in the production of many marine units.

The tour concluded with an inspection of the “Gamal Abdel Nasser” helicopter carrier, the “Port Said” frigate, and the building of rubber boats led by the Naval Forces.

The meeting and the inspection tours were attended by a number of leaders of the Egyptian and Qatari armed forces and the Qatari ambassador in Cairo.
