Based on the directives of Nevine Gamea, Minister of Trade and Industry, the Egyptian Competition Authority’s (ECA) Board of Directors has started to hold periodic meeting, under the chairmanship of Ibrahim Al-Sigini, to quickly study all cases and reports of competition violations.

Al-Sigini, Acting Chairperson of the ECA, discussed during the meeting some matters related to the organisational and administrative structure of the Authority. He indicated that he is in the process of reviewing and re-establishing a new organisational structure that helps to develop and raise the efficiency of the work system in line with the latest international standards.

The current organisational structure of the ECA has not been updated since the establishment of the authority in 2005, he added, noting that the new structure will be presented fir discuss to the Board in its next meeting.

Since appointing Al-Sigini, the ECA’s Board held two meetings. They issued eight decisions on several issues in different sectors, such as paper, communications, automotive, iron, electronic services, and petroleum products.

The ECA’s Board of Directors urged all those addressed by the provisions of the Competition law to cooperate with the Authority and provide the required data upon request, so that it can perform its mission properly.
