Shoukry, Kuwaiti PM discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed, on Sunday, with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah ways to promote bilateral cooperation in several areas, during the former’s official visit to Kuwait.

Shoukry hailed the Kuwaiti investment and economic presence in the Egyptian market, asserting the Egyptian government’s interest in attracting more Kuwaiti investment flows in light of the large and preferential investment opportunities in the Egyptian market. They also agreed to increase trade exchange between the two countries during the coming period.

Earlier, Shoukry also met with Kuwait’s new Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. He handed a message of congratulations from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to Sheikh Nawaf on his recent inauguration as Emir of Kuwait. Al-Sisi also officially invited the Kuwaiti Emir to visit Egypt.

During the meeting, Shoukry expressed Egypt’s aspiration to continue deepening strong ties with Kuwait and enhancing bilateral cooperation in all fields in the coming period.

He also hailed Kuwait’s supportive stance towards Egypt in recent years and late Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad’s key role in boosting relations between the two countries.

For his part, Sheikh Nawaf underlined Egypt’s pivotal role as “a pillar of security and stability” in the region, stressing Kuwait’s support for Egypt to achieve economic and social development.

The Kuwaiti Emir has also highlighted the need to continue coordination and consultations between Egypt and Kuwait in the light of their historic and deep relations.

Shoukry also met with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. The Egyptian Foreign Minister also handed Sheikh Meshal a congratulatory message from President Al-Sisi on his appointment as crown prince.

The Egyptian Minister expressed the country’s appreciation for the Kuwaiti support to the Egyptian economy in recent years, especially by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.
