E-commerce platforms across Egypt have launched “Back to School” campaign, providing discounts and offers on school-related products such as clothing, electronic devices, and stationery.

At a press conference last week, Minister of Education and Technical Education Tarek Shawky announced that the new academic year 2020/2021 will start on 17 October, and will run for 33 weeks.

The Amazon-owned e-commerce website, Souq.com, has created a special section on its platform, entitled “Get ready for study”, with discounts on school uniforms, electronic devices, and office equipment.

Discounts on school uniforms range between 15% and 60%, while discounts on electronic devices range between 13% and 44%, including computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones, in addition to computer accessories.

The website noted that discounts on stationery products ranged between 12% and 50%, with office supply discounts including calculators, pens, papers, printing supplies, and others.

Jumia has also include a section on its website under the name “Get ready to study”, with discounts ranging between 10% and 50% for various school supplies. The offers include school bags, uniforms, stationery, laptops, food containers, educational books, and protective tools for students such as masks and small sanitizer bottles.

In Noon’s back-to-school section, which it has called “Returning to Study”, the site is offering discounts on products ranging between 9% and 37%.

The products offered include stationery and electronic devices such as tablets, laptops, school bags, educational books for children, food containers, clothes, disinfection tools and masks. It also has discounts on equipment for preparing breakfast, such as fruit juicers and sandwich-making machines.
