Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly directed relevant ministers to increase strategic reserves of essential commodities and petroleum products to ensure long-term supply stability amidst ongoing regional geopolitical challenges.
During the weekly cabinet meeting in the New Administrative Capital on Wednesday, Madbouly also announced preparations for a national conference in October. Commissioned by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, the event aims to present sectoral achievements, open a dialogue with specialists, and address public concerns with a “broad degree of transparency and a future vision for each sector.”
The directives follow a recent meeting led by El-Sisi at the Strategic Command in the New Capital, which Madbouly praised as an important tradition for reviewing state files and clarifying responsibilities. The prime minister noted the meeting addressed unprecedented global challenges, including an economic slowdown and a severe energy crisis resulting from current conflicts.
Al-Sisi emphasised the need to optimise state resources, build trust in institutions, and secure the internal front against continuous attempts to harm the state. Consequently, Madbouly instructed ministers to intensify public awareness campaigns regarding international challenges, highlighting the role of educational and religious institutions. He quoted the president in describing the public’s awareness as the “bulwark and guarantee for securing the internal front.”
Reflecting on recent diplomatic activities, the prime minister discussed his participation in the United Nations General Assembly in New York on behalf of the president. He stated that the meetings demonstrated international appreciation for Egypt’s role in regional stability and its advocacy for comprehensive political and diplomatic solutions to Middle Eastern crises.
Addressing the mining sector, Madbouly highlighted the president’s inauguration of the Egypt Mining Forum and his meeting with the CEO of AngloGold Ashanti. Al-Sisi affirmed the state’s commitment to providing necessary facilities to expand the company’s gold exploration programmes, aligning with Egypt’s strategy to attract investment and increase mining’s contribution to the national economy. Madbouly also referenced a roundtable he chaired on Tuesday aimed at boosting investor confidence and infrastructure development in the sector.
Ahead of the new parliamentary term, the prime minister congratulated House of Representatives Speaker Hisham Badawy and members of parliament on the start of the second ordinary session of the third legislative term, scheduled for Thursday. He directed the cabinet to maintain effective cooperation with parliament, respond promptly to briefing requests and questions, and engage constructively with all parliamentary tools.
The cabinet meeting commenced with Madbouly extending congratulations to President El-Sisi, Minister of Defence and Military Production Ashraf Salem Zaher, the armed forces, and the Egyptian public ahead of the 53rd anniversary of the October War.
