Egypt’s Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation has sterilised and disinfected 7,538 government installations nationwide between 14 and 30 March, as part of the state’s precautionary efforts against the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), according to a Tuesday ministerial statement.
The disinfected installations were 46 in Aswan, 3 in Suez, 12 in Port Said, 208 in Cairo, 241 Menoufiya, 293 in Giza, 713 in Beheira, 28 in Ismalia, 644 in New Valley, 97 in Matrouh, 656 in Qaliubiya, 91 in Beni Suef, 182 in Red Sea, 172 in Daqahleya, 90 in Fayoum, 56 in Qena, 56 in Alexandria, and 696 in Sharqeya.
In addition, 2,050 places in Gharbeya, 125 in Damietta, 131 in Kafr El-Sheikh, 87 in Luxor, 80 in Minya, 308 in Assiut, 444 in Sohag, 5 in North Sinai, and 24 in South Sinai were disinfected.
The ministry also deployed teams of hazmat-suited workers at the entrances of all governorates to sterilise vehicles heading in and out, especially vehicle tires.
The government has been taking strict measures to stop the spread of Covid-19. It has suspended flights and schools, and imposed curfew among other precautionary measures.
Egypt’s total number of coronavirus infections increased on Monday to 656 cases, of whom 41 died.
