Kirloskar Group to bring in anti-fire water pumps for Zohr field

Mohammed Hassan, director of SPP Pumps (MENA) LLC, affiliated to Kirloskar Group, said that his company will bring in anti-fire water pumps for the Zohr field worth EGP 64m, noting that the company has already sold six pumps for the projects and is expected to sell the rest of the pumps within the next six months.

Kirloskar Group is an Indian conglomerate headquartered in Pune, Maharashtra, India. The company exports to over 70 countries throughout most of Africa, Southeast Asia, and Europe. The group has 16 factories around the world.

Notably, Kirloskar began operating in the Egyptian market in 2010 after the establishment of its factory in 6th of October City on an area of 5,000 sqm. The company works on offering water and anti-fire pumps for sanitation and irrigation projects.

Hassan noted that Kirloskar’s business size is estimated at EGP 100m, during the last couple of years, adding that the company’s investments are EGP 55m in the Egyptian market.

For the past 30 years, more than 100,000 Kirloskar pump sets have been working along the Nile River for greening the desert lands in Egypt. A total of 40 pumping stations incorporating Kirloskar pumps have been able to reclaim over 150,000 acres of desert land for agriculture, making the brand name Kirloskar synonymous with pumps in Egypt, according to the company’s website.
