The fast windmills of fashion trends are often keen on recycling previous cuts, colours, and fabrics. With the global industry following the commands of social media and millennial preferences, nostalgia is an unmatched winner for 2018. While the 1990s make a better idol for a generation born during the same decade, the 1970s are still the undebatable hero of boho chic.

In a time when fringes were considered a subtle embellishment and flare trousers practical daily-wear, the 1970s were the golden age for designers, such Sonia Rykiel and Yves Saint Laurent to address the masses with daring fashion.

Their conjured staples are still seen today from time to time on those who still aim to stray away from the masses. With suits dominating each and every store window, local brand Zakhrafa insists on following the creators of boho chic against the tide.

Aiming to create luxury for the everyday revolutionary and flattering the figures of their clients, the brand’s latest summer collection, Aurora, is a one step further in their road to unique casual wear. The light collection balances the essential mix of contemporary and vintage trends.

Rather than just being a fashion statement, Aurora plans to be a new reinterpretation of boho chic wear, according to the definitions of 2018. Being a time-limited trend, boho chic is not a school of thought; but, rather a temporary phenomenon. Accordingly, Zakhrafa’s revolution to turn their aesthetic into an on-going school of thought is quite necessary.

Aside from the flared trousers, the collection also features the season’s top trends—sequin and sheer—according to a unique vantage point. Along with the flashy and modern flared pants, the collection also embraces the return of denim on denim sets in many different variations; including checkered and printed denim.

With that said, the brand’s true identity does not shine out as clearly as it does through their signature printed silk trousers.

The collection was shot at a contrasting venue. The old abandoned house represents a nostalgic background versus the contemporary silhouettes. On the other hand, the fine line between modern and vintage also strikes a chord with the brand’s main goal—to revolutionize boho and bring it to the forefront.
