Egypt’s national team wins 2016 Bahrain International Table Tennis Championship for Juniors

Throughout 2016, this was not the only victory for Egyptian champions in the sport since Egyptian and Africa’s number one champion Dina Meshref won the International Table Tennis Federation’s (ITTF) 2016 African Cup in Khartoum, Sudan and Egypt’s Amr Assar won the men competitions in second place.

Egyptian national junior team for table tennis won the ninth edition of the Bahrain International Table Tennis Championship for Juniors in Bahrain in February.

Throughout 2016, this was not the only victory for Egyptian champions in the sport, as Egyptian and Africa’s number one champion, Dina Meshref, won the International Table Tennis Federation’s (ITTF) 2016 African Cup, held in Khartoum, Sudan.

In the ITTF 2016 African Cup’s final, Meshref defeated the Congolese table tennis champion of Chinese descent Xing with the score of 11-4, 13-11, 11-4, 6-11, 11-2, and the final score of 4-1. Mesherf made it to the finals thanks to her victory in the semi-finals against the Nigerian Offiong Edem with the result of 12-10, 8-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-6, and the final result of 4-1.

In the other semi-final match Han Xing defeated Egypt’s Nadeen El-Dawlatly.

The tournament’s third place went for EL-Dawlatly, while the fourth went for Edem.

Meshref’s victory in the final match qualified her to the 2016 Table Tennis Women World Cup, to be held from 7 to 9 October 2016 in Timbiqui, Colombia.

About men’s competitions, Nigerian Quadri Aruna ranked number two in Africa, won these competitions after defeating Egypt’s Amr Assar, ranked first in Africa, in the final match with the result of 8-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-6, 11-6, and the final result of 4-1.

In one of the semi-final matches, Assar won over the Nigerian Segun Toriola, while in the other Aruna won over Egypt’s El-Sayed Lasheen, ranked number three in Africa.

The men’s competitions’ third place went to Toriola, while fourth to Lasheen.
