Two people were injured, and five shops were shattered in separate bomb explosions across Helwan on Sunday, according to the state-run newspaper Al-Ahram.

No one has claimed responsibility for the explosions.

Furthermore, two other  bombs were detected on Sunday morning, leaving no casualties. A bomb exploded in front of the Sheikh Zayed youth centre in 6th of October City. In Ismailia, bomb squads defused three devices that were left inside three schools across the area of Qantara Gharb in Ismailia.

Small explosions have become a frequent occurrence since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013. Usually, the perpetrators are unidentified, while government sources often point to members of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood.

Earlier in February, an explosive device went off in Qasr Al-Nil Street in Downtown Cairo. Another bomb went off in west Alexandria, close to a gas station, with no injuries reported.
