After being abruptly cut short due to the Ministry of Culture protests, Opera Aida is set to return to the Cairo Opera House on 23 October for an additional four nights. The concerts will be part of the Opera House’ celebration of the 200th anniversary of Verdi’s musical creation. In addition, the concerts are organised with the support of the Italian Embassy in Cairo and the Italian Cultural Institute.

The first concert will also be attended by one of Verdi’s grandsons, who will be the guest of honour for the night. The concerts will be accompanied by two exhibitions, one at the Italian Embassy’s headquarters and the other at the Visual Arts Hall at the Cairo Opera House complex. The collections exhibited will be rare photographs of Verdi.

Furthermore, the concerts will feature a group of famous Italian and Bulgarian sopranos, who will accompany the Cairo Opera Company and the Cairo Opera Ballet. The orchestra will be led by Maestro Nayer Nagi and the choir by Aldo Magnato. Iman Mostafa will be the lead Soprano, but will alternate with the Italian Elena Baramova. Additional members include baritone Mostafa Mohamed, Emad Adel, Hala Al Shaboury, Julie Fayzy, Dahlia Farouk, Gihan Farid, Tenor Tamer Tawfik, Ibrahim Nagi and Abdel Wahab Al Sayed.

The other three concerts will take place on 24, 27 and 28 October, starting at 7pm.
