A vigil was held on Monday evening in the Nile Delta town of Beheira, state-run Al-Ahram reported. The demonstration was organised by political activists, the article continued, to protest the release of the suspect in a sexual harassment incident which resulted in the death of a young female named Shorouk Al-Toraby.

The demonstration took place in front of the Beheira Security Directorate, where activists gathered to show their disapproval of the decision by the Prosecutor General to release the man accused of running Al-Toraby over with his microbus after allegedly harassing her.

Demonstrators and activists chanted; demanding justice and punishment for Shorouk’s killer in addition to calling for constitutional amendments that include harsher penalties for harassment, the article continued.

A video of the demonstration was released by Al-Fagr, and showed around twenty young men and women holding handwritten banners inscribed with “No to Harassment” and “Catch the Harasser,” and shouting: “The harasser is a cowardly dog!”

Al-Ahram reported one of the demonstrators’ chants was directed towards Shorouk’s mother: “Oh don’t cry, her killer will not live”  while another was aimed at her alleged harasser: “Harassment is no good; try it again and I’ll cut your hand.”
