CAIRO: The Serbian National Folkloric Ensemble Kolo will perform at the Sayed Darwish Theat at the Alexandria Opera House Wednesday following its success at the Cairo Opera House’s Open Air Theater, Monday. Kolo is the only professional folkloric music and dancing ensemble in Serbia, probably one of the best in the whole Balkan region, Serbian Ambassador in Cairo Dejan Vasiljevic told Daily News Egypt. Vasiljevic is proud to see Kolo perform its concerts in Egypt, contributing to the overall presentation of Serbian tradition, art and culture here. All members of Kolo, on the other hand, are more than happy and pleased to be in Egypt, he said. Some of the elements in Serbian folklore music and dancing as well as the melody and rhythms are similar to Egyptian music and dancing, the Serbian ambassador noted, voicing confidence that the Egyptians will enjoy the performances. Kolo gave its first performance at the Salah El Din Citadel for Music and Singing on Friday.
