Security forces raided Al Jazeera Mubasher Misr’s offices in Agouza, Dokki and El Warraq on Friday, after the government said on Thursday that the channel works without legal backing “or professional ethics”, state-owned Al Ahram has reported.

Security forces confiscated broadcasting equipment.

The government said it would take legal action against Al Jazeera, due to the “threat it poses to national security.”

According to the ministers of investment, communications and information, the channel did not obtain the necessary licenses to work in Egypt.

The ministers added that the channel’s coverage of post-30 June incidents caused a wave of public anger and their “false” news posed a threat to national security and national unity.
