The Engineering Export Council of Egypt has launched a trade mission to Tunisia, bringing together 16 Egyptian companies as part of efforts to expand the global footprint of Egypt’s engineering exports.

In a statement on Monday, the council said the mission is being organised in cooperation with the Egyptian Commercial Representation Authority, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Egyptian General Authority for Exhibitions and Conferences, in support of efforts to promote local industry and open new markets.

The opening day was attended by Egypt’s Ambassador to Tunisia, Basem Hassan, alongside Mohamed Al-Maghrabi, head of the Egyptian Trade Office in Tunisia, and other officials involved in bilateral economic cooperation.

On the Tunisian side, participants included Mohamed Mansaf, head of the Tunis Chamber, and Jamal Al-Aifa, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Trade for International Relations. The programme featured a series of bilateral meetings between Egyptian and Tunisian business representatives.

Mai Helmy, Executive Director of the Engineering Export Council of Egypt and head of the mission, said the expansion into the Tunisian market forms part of a broader strategy to deepen Egypt’s presence in regional markets.

She added that the mission aims to strengthen industrial and commercial ties between the two countries while showcasing the competitiveness of Egyptian engineering products.

Helmy noted that such missions are an effective tool for opening new marketing channels, particularly in light of strong growth opportunities for engineering exports in international markets.

The mission’s agenda includes business-to-business meetings and site visits, enabling direct engagement between manufacturers and buyers, with the aim of accelerating the conclusion of export agreements.
