Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Monday participated in a high-level meeting on the sidelines of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, bringing together Jordan’s King Abdullah II, the leaders of France and Turkey, Qatar’s Emir, Germany’s Chancellor, the prime ministers of Italy, the United Kingdom, and Canada, as well as Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister, according to a presidential statement.
Presidential spokesperson Mohamed El-Shenawy said the meeting aimed to coordinate efforts among participating countries on implementing the Gaza ceasefire agreement, with discussions focusing on reconstruction, humanitarian assistance, and mechanisms to sustain peace on the ground.
President Al-Sisi underscored the importance of convening the Cairo Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction in November 2025, building on the momentum generated by the Sharm El-Sheikh summit, El-Shenawy added.
The President urged European partners to encourage all parties to uphold the ceasefire agreement and noted that Egypt and Jordan are currently training members of the Palestinian police. He called on European nations to support and expand these programmes to help enhance security and stability in Gaza.
Participants stressed the urgent need to ensure the continuous delivery of humanitarian aid, clear debris, and establish a joint coordination mechanism among participating countries to outline concrete steps for implementing the objectives of this international partnership, the statement concluded.
