Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah El-Din Mostafa has appointed Salah Soliman Gomblat as Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the National Authority for Military Production.

The move comes is part of the ministry’s drive to inject fresh blood into the authority, drawing on executives with strong managerial credentials to advance its strategy, enhance governance across subsidiaries, and harness modern manufacturing technologies. The minister thanked Emile Helmy Elias, who had held the post since August 2022.

Gomblat pledged to exert maximum effort in serving the authority and its companies. That includes supporting plans to boost local content in standard products, localise advanced manufacturing technologies across both defence and civil industries, and integrate more deeply with the private sector. He also stressed the importance of accelerating projects, ensuring efficiency, and investing in human capital through training and empowerment of employees.

Gomblat previously held posts in the Armed Forces’ Weapons and Ammunition Administration, the Technical Research Centre, and the Armaments Authority. He earned an MSc in Weapons Mechanics from the Military Technical College in 2000, followed by a PhD in Aerospace Sciences in the US in 2010. Seconded to the ministry in 2018, he headed the authority’s technical sectors before being tasked in 2023 with leading Abu Zaabal Specialized Chemicals Company (Military Factory 18), where he achieved notable successes. He also served as a board member of the authority.
