The streets of Cairo warmly celebrated Christmas spirit with Christmas trees, ornaments, decorations, lights, and definitely Santa Claus. With Christmas’s most famous songs in the background, the dazzling spirit of Christmas fills people’s heart with joy and warmth.

The streets of Egypt’s posh neighbourhoods started preparing for the celebratory season staring in early December. New Cairo and Sixth of October are the most embellished neighbourhoods, where the streets are beautified with Christmas trees and miniature Santa Clauses.

Despite security threats against churches and Christians, public celebrations are ongoing.

The wave of Christmas manifestation is getting wider and more revealing every year in Cairo, with the expanding of new residential areas where most of their dwellers have once experienced the festive spirit of Europe.

Despite the fact that Egypt’s Copts celebrate the birth of Christ on 7 January, that does not prevent them, along with Muslims, from enjoying and commemorating the occasion which turns into a social festive season.

Muslims also started lovingly participating in Christmas celebrations; exchanging gifts on Christmas eve and holding Christmas parties.
