Thousands headed to Tahrir Square on Friday to demonstrate against President Mohamed Morsy, the regime and the Muslim Brotherhood.
People turned out in the square despite the weather conditions being less than favourable.
In the afternoon the sun emerged and the demonstrations continued.  Demonstrations have been on-going since the two-year anniversary of the 25 January revolution.
The situation along the Nile Corniche road was more tense. Security forces clashed with protesters, with reports of birdshot being used.
Clashes have occurred throughout the week near Tahrir which has seen the Semiramis hotel ransacked and Security transport vehicles stolen and set on fire by demonstrators.
