Egypt’s engineering exports rose 4.1% year on year to $4.351bn in the first eight months of 2026, up from $4.181bn in the same period last year, according to the Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EECE).
The council announced the figures during the third edition of its annual conference, “The Future of Egyptian Industry and Exports in Light of Economic and Trade Policies,” attended by Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade.
Sherif El-Sayad, Chairperson of the EECE, said the sector aims to achieve annual export growth of around 15%, supporting Egypt’s target of increasing total exports to $100bn by 2030.
He added that engineering exports grew 13% in 2025 compared with 2024, despite geopolitical tensions, regional conflicts and disruptions to global supply chains. Continued growth this year, he said, reflects the ability of Egyptian manufacturers to maintain their competitiveness in international markets.
Cables are the largest contributor to engineering exports, followed by electrical and electronic products and home appliances, El-Sayad said. Automotive and components exports also recorded strong performance, exceeding $1bn for the first time in 2025.
He expects automotive exports to continue expanding as investment increases and international companies enter the Egyptian market to manufacture electric vehicles, creating opportunities to localise production and increase the value added of Egyptian exports.
Saudi Arabia is the leading destination for Egyptian engineering products, followed by Turkey, the United Kingdom, Germany and France, alongside other Arab markets. The sector’s 10 largest export destinations account for around 56% of total engineering exports, according to El-Sayad.
The council plans to diversify export markets beyond traditional destinations in Europe, the Gulf and Africa, with Latin America among its priorities. El-Sayad also highlighted the importance of activating the Mercosur trade agreement and making greater use of its provisions to open additional markets for Egyptian engineering companies.
