Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar chaired a regular meeting with senior ministry officials to review healthcare performance indicators, strengthen coordination across the health system, and accelerate improvements in public health services, the Health Ministry said.
The meeting, attended by deputy ministers, senior officials, and heads of health authorities, also included directors of health directorates across Egypt via video conference.
Abdel Ghaffar reviewed progress in implementing previous directives, assessed performance indicators across governorates, and discussed plans to improve healthcare services, strengthen the medical workforce, and enhance discipline and operational efficiency within healthcare facilities.
The minister stressed the importance of closer coordination between central ministry departments and provincial health directorates, calling for more frequent field inspections and unannounced visits to monitor service delivery, identify shortcomings, and address operational challenges promptly.
Deputy Minister of Health Amr Kandil presented the findings of a field survey covering 2,354 households in the governorates of Alexandria, Beni Suef, and Ismailia. The study assessed access to healthcare services, patterns of service utilisation, household healthcare spending, and factors influencing the use of medical services, while also gathering citizens’ feedback and recommendations.
Abdel Ghaffar directed officials to translate the survey findings into rapid implementation measures by addressing identified gaps and incorporating the results into healthcare development plans to improve patient experience and the quality of medical services.
The meeting also reviewed the rollout of digital performance dashboards across governorates and an electronic monitoring platform for national health projects, designed to provide daily implementation updates, improve oversight, and support faster decision-making.
Participants also discussed recent incidents involving assaults and disputes in hospital emergency departments. Abdel Ghaffar stressed that violations committed by either healthcare workers or members of the public would not be tolerated, adding that legal and administrative measures would be enforced firmly against offenders.
He also called for expanding training programmes for emergency department staff to strengthen communication skills, improve the management of difficult situations, and safeguard patients’ rights while maintaining the quality of healthcare services.
Health Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the regular meetings are part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to monitor performance, address operational challenges, and continuously improve healthcare services across the country.
