The Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD) and the Embassy of Cameroon in Cairo have signed a contract for the sale of two land plots totalling 8,500 sqm for the construction of the new embassy and the ambassador’s residence in the Diplomatic District of Egypt’s New Administrative Capital.
The agreement was signed by Khaled Abbas, ACUD Chairperson and Managing Director, and Ambassador Mahamoudou Labarang, Cameroon’s Ambassador to Egypt, in the presence of officials from both sides.
Khaled Abbas said the development and construction works in the New Administrative Capital are advancing rapidly, noting his satisfaction with the agreement. “We are delighted today to sign this contract with the friendly Embassy of Cameroon, paving the way for the full relocation of its diplomatic mission to the Diplomatic District, further strengthening the presence of foreign missions and enriching this vital sector,” he said.
Ambassador Labarang welcomed the step, describing it as a reflection of the strong relations between the two countries. “The establishment of the New Administrative Capital represents a significant milestone for Egypt. The relocation of the Cameroonian Embassy to this new capital is an important step and a clear indication of the strong and deep relations between our two countries. I also extend my thanks to the company for its cooperation and the facilitation provided to complete the contract,” he said.
The master plan for the first phase of the New Administrative Capital includes a Diplomatic District designed to host all embassies and foreign missions currently based in Egypt. The agreement with the Cameroonian Embassy is part of a broader series of contracts signed with several foreign missions in preparation for their relocation to the new capital.
