The Ministry of Industry has launched a new package of investment incentives designed to encourage the establishment of factories specializing in the production of cold-rolled, galvanized, and coated sheet metal — key inputs for a wide range of strategic industries.
This initiative aligns with directives from the political leadership to deepen local manufacturing and support the growth of strategic sectors. Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel El-Wazir, emphasized that the decision follows coordination with the ministerial group for industrial development. The goal, he said, is to enhance the industrial investment climate, improve the competitiveness of Egyptian products, and expand the country’s industrial base — all of which contribute to reducing the import bill and increasing industrial exports.
The incentive package includes several key benefits for investors in this field. These include competitive pricing for industrial land allocated to qualifying projects, priority in land allocation, and flexible payment facilities, contingent on adherence to project implementation timelines. Investors will also have access to concessional loans to finance working capital and production lines.
To streamline operations, operating licenses will be issued within 24 hours upon submission of complete documentation to the General Authority for Industrial Development. In addition, all essential utilities will be made available immediately to new projects. The government will also grant priority to domestic sheet metal producers in supplying national projects.
Minister El-Wazir highlighted the critical importance of sheet metal products across a broad spectrum of industries. These include household appliances — such as refrigerators, washing machines, cookers, microwaves, and air conditioners — as well as the automotive and transport sectors, including car bodies, buses, trucks, and trailers. The material is also vital for the manufacture of metal furniture, office and home furnishings, and medical equipment such as medical refrigerators, beds, and chairs.
Other key applications include agricultural equipment — such as tractors, greenhouses, and harvesting tools — metal packaging for food and beverages, and metal construction elements like roofing sheets and structural components for factories and warehouses.
The Minister underscored that these incentives are part of the state’s broader vision to build a robust industrial base capable of competing both regionally and internationally. A key priority is the localization of feeder industries that serve as the backbone of larger, strategic sectors.
This initiative reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to fostering an investment environment grounded in efficiency, transparency, and investor support. By doing so, it aims to unlock new opportunities for the industrial sector, increase exports, and create meaningful employment for young people.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to launching further programs and initiatives that drive sustainable industrial development and support Egypt’s strategy to become a regional hub for manufacturing — in line with the national slogan: “Made in Egypt… for Quality and Leadership.”
