Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly convened on Monday with Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, to assess the progress of electricity provision for agricultural development projects in the New Delta region.
The meeting, part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the national electricity grid, focused on ensuring a reliable power supply for various uses—particularly within the context of Egypt’s sustainable development strategy, which includes the establishment of new agricultural, industrial, and urban communities.
During the meeting, Minister Esmat provided an update on the electrical infrastructure for land reclamation projects in the New Delta. The report highlighted the ongoing efforts to deploy temporary power sources, such as mobile stations, at key project sites. It also outlined progress on long-term solutions, including the construction of new power stations with varying capacities to meet the growing needs of the region’s agricultural expansion.
Esmat emphasized that the electricity sector is receiving strong state support, recognizing its critical role in advancing sustainable development projects across the country. The Minister also briefed Madbouly on the ministry’s proactive measures to address the challenges posed by unprecedented levels of electricity demand due to the recent extreme heat wave. This includes close coordination with the Ministry of Petroleum to ensure a steady supply of fuel for power stations.
Prime Minister Madbouly reiterated the government’s commitment to meeting the energy needs of Egypt’s ambitious development projects, ensuring that electricity remains a key enabler for economic growth and regional development.
