Vodafone, Ministry of Communications discuss global expansion plans for smart solutions in Egypt

A delegation from Vodafone Intelligent Solutions, led by its President and the Head of Technology for Vodafone Group worldwide, Scott Petty, met with the Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Egypt, Amr Talaat, to discuss the company’s expansion plans in Egypt.

The meeting was also attended by the CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), Ahmed Zaher.

The Minister of Communications expressed the government’s interest in creating a business-friendly environment to attract investment in information technology. He urged global companies to set up centres in Egypt for exporting digital services, which would create diverse employment opportunities for youth and boost the digital development of Egypt’s exports.

He also highlighted the ministry’s efforts to foster investment in outsourcing services from different provinces, adopt remote work systems, and develop digital infrastructure nationwide, as part of Egypt’s digital strategy for outsourcing industry development.

Scott Petty, President of Vodafone Intelligent Solutions, commended the immense capabilities of the Egyptian workforce, which motivated the company to expand its presence in the Egyptian market. He stressed that the continuous support from the ministry in various technological sectors, along with the collaboration with ITIDA, contributed to the growth of human resources.

Petty said that Vodafone Intelligent Solutions would broaden and improve its current services to include the latest and most advanced aspects of global technology. He said that this strategic arm of Vodafone Group aimed to enhance efficiency and quality, positively impacting job creation in Egypt, and attracting more businesses and projects to the Egyptian market.

Ahmed Zaher, CEO of ITIDA, stated that the agency worked with global technology companies operating in Egypt to meet their needs, support their expansion efforts, especially in exporting cross-border services, and encourage more foreign investments.

He praised Vodafone Intelligent Solutions as an exemplary model of the fruitful partnership between the agency and global companies, and highlighted the outsourcing services exported from its centres in Cairo, Alexandria, and other provinces through remote work, creating numerous job opportunities for Egyptian youth.

Rania Salah, CEO of Vodafone Intelligent Solutions Egypt, projected a 15% annual expansion after the expected development of the company. She also mentioned opening avenues for cooperation with various partners from different government and non-government sectors.
