RUDN to host international conference on UN SDGs, with participation of experts from 70 countries

The Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) will host the II International Scientific Conference of Students and Young Scientists “For Sustainable Development of Civilisation: Cooperation, Science, Education, Technology (Africa’s Path to 17 SDGs: Integrated Approach)” on November 21-24, TV BRICS reported.

The main theme of the upcoming event is “17 Sustainable Development Goals for the African Region 2030.”

TV BRICS is the chief media partner of the conference.

The conference will bring together 1,500 experts from 70 countries to discuss priority issues of our time, problems and challenges, possible trends and directions of Africa’s development, as well as to raise awareness of the global SDGs of humanity.

Scientists, ministers, business owners and heads of civil society organisations will voice research findings and best practices to combat modern humanity’s challenges in the fields of ecology, agriculture, urban planning, and health.

The experience of Morocco and Jordan will show the potential of drinking water treatment systems. Brazil will share research on clean fisheries and Tunisia will raise the issue of microparticle rubber pollution. Experts will offer solutions to the problems of soil desertification, virus resistance to antibiotics, suburban sprawl in megacities, high vegetable prices, and the illiteracy epidemic.

  • Kalumbi Shangula, Minister of Health and Social Development of Namibia
  • Ayele Teshome, Minister of Health of Ethiopia
  • Ramatulai Wurie, Minister of Technical and Higher Education of Sierra Leone

Ways to address the challenges of the African continent will be explored in more detail in strategic and framework sessions, discussions in three tracks:

Biosphere

Experts will discuss how to treat wastewater, prevent hunger in Africa, fight warming and what constraints are preventing the promotion of green energy in the region.

Society

Scientists will share how to prevent discrimination and achieve a balance of interests, how to attract investments to achieve the main SDGs, what healthcare systems need in countries with difficult climatic conditions.

Economics, Politics, Law, Partnerships

Specialists will analyse what niches African countries can occupy in global production, how interaction with Asia will help solve the problems of sustainable development and how to use alternative energy in the infrastructure of the continent.

This year TV BRICS international network signed a cooperation agreement with RUDN aimed at promoting a positive image of Russian higher education and science in BRICS countries.

The parties are engaged in joint production of video content, development and expansion of international youth cooperation / socially significant international youth initiatives, promotion of university achievements in the information space of the BRICS+ countries in order to exchange experience and establish contacts between universities of the Five countries.
