Indian Ambassador to Cairo Ajit Gupte praised the blossoming bilateral relations between his country and Egypt during a ceremony to celebrate the 77th anniversary of India’s independence.

He indicated that the relations further strengthened after Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s visit to India in January, which was followed by many visits by the Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense, as well as raising the level of relations between the two countries to the level of strategic partnership that was signed during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Cairo.

He also noted that India is a major economic power, ranking fifth in the world and that he expects it to become one of the largest economies in the world within the next few years.

The ambassador stressed that bilateral relations are witnessing development, especially in the field of economic and military cooperation. He said many Indian companies are interested in investing in Egypt and establishing joint projects, especially in the fields of chemicals and the automobile industry.
